The Chief Executive Officer, Hope Builders Foundation for Entrepreneurial Education in Kaduna State, Dr. Mathias B. Yashim, has called on both the Local and State Government, to step up their games in the fight against insecurity, and give more attention to those who are victims of insurgency in the State.
Dr. Mathias made the call on Wednesday, during the courtesy visit of his team to two camps belonging to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Chickun Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
According to him, the activities of Banditry and other terrorist groups is disheartening, lamented that Education, economy, among others has been grounded in the area, subjecting a lots of citizens to unnecessary hardship and pains.
“My heart is bleeding because of the activities of Kidnappers in the community. Education and economic activities are all grounded due to kidnappers’ activities. The community is suffering due to the activities of Kidnapers. The Primary school there with over 300 children has only 2 teachers because they are locals. Others cannot come into the village. The Secondary school has about 26 Government employed teachers but only 6 are able to attend to the students. Others can not come into the community because of the kidnaper’s activities.” He said.
Dr. Mathias noted that the situation is too bad for fellow citizens to bear on their own, called on Local Government Council, including Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai to come into the aid of these communities especially in the area of Education and give meanings to their lives.
“We are pleading with Chikun Local Government Council and Kaduna state government to facilitate adequate security to Gwagwada Community so as to revive their economic activities. For the future of the many young people growing up in this community, I am pleading with all stakeholders to step into the education space and provide learning in this community.” He added.
It is no longer news that Bandits had laid siege not only in Kaduna State but all parts of the country in recent times.
The opposition Party, People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Kaduna State Chapter, this week has accused Kaduna Governor of allowing the centre of learning into a hub of Kidnapping under his watch.
Several Groups in Northern Nigeria including the Nothern Elders Forum,NEF has also expressed that Education in Nothern Nigeria is under threats due to the activities of Boko Haram, Bandits, Armed Hersdmen and other terrorist groups within the region.
Dr. Mathias, urged the Governor and every Stakeholder in Chickun Local Government Area, to wake up to their responsibilities and ensure that the people are given adequate considerations to better their situations.
